Kahf  invites proposals and submissions from writers, artists, poets, designers, & storytellers for digital. 

Please familiarize yourself with our  vision, style, and  guidelines before reaching out or submitting. 

Editorial Vision

Kahf publishes work at a crossroads of thought and beauty. We aim to mix intellectual curiosity, aesthetic criticism, and artistic expression. Through online offerings and print magazines, our published pieces address a sweep of topics through a range of genres across the arts and humanities. Contributions include philosophy, literature, visual art, history, aesthetics, film, design, religion, education, short story, poetry, and creative non-fiction. We are proud how the work of longer in the tooth scholars tangles with fresh perspectives from budding thinkers and the creative work of imaginative aesthetes. 

Style 

Our goal is to offer both an intellectual lamp and an aesthetic joy. We believe content and form are equally substantive; what one produces is as important as how it's cooked.  Our community of readers are knotted together by a shared interest in aesthetic, imaginative, intellectual, and elegant explorations of past, present, and future.  Submissions to Kahf are selected, equally, because of an author’s prose and pull of the ideas. Please lean into your writing personality and enjoy the process! 

Genres

- Essays (750-1500 words)

In a 250-word abstract, describe the topic and/or questions you propose to explore. Please give particular attention to how your essay relates to a contemporary concern, attends to a particular text/film/concept/artwork/etc, and/or is otherwise relevant to Kahf’s audience.  NOTE: We strongly prefer abstracts to completed drafts. We CANNOT publish essays that have been previously published elsewhere. 

- Poetry/ Short Stories

Unlike essays, we accept (and prefer!) submissions of complete poetry and short stories. 

- Visual Art (photography, painting, drawing)

Please submit any visual art ranging from photgraphs, paitings, drawings, sketchings, caligraphy drawings, even video essays alongside a title and if needed a text accompanying the piece.
